It was an amazing launch party attended by some amazing people – starting with the Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg. I was elated when Mayor Bloomberg’s office rsvp’d that he’d be attending the Book party Launch – but come on, he’s the Mayor, surely something would come up?!? Well it didn’t. I was overwhelmed with gratitude that so many wonderful people found time to attend the official kick off to ”Thank You Power”. Turns out Mayor Bloomberg was just the beginning.
To someone else, the list of attendees reads like a ‘who’s who’ in New York media & society. To me, the room was filled with friends, associates and people I admire…and that they were there was humbling and emotion-inducing proof that New York City has indeed become home. The hosts of the party were my wonderful husband, Karl – who introduced me as the ‘love of his life,’ and our dear friends Hillary & Wilbur Ross and Lauren & John Veronis. From the media world, John Roberts from CNN stayed up late. His boss, CNN Chief Jon Klein was there as was my boss Charles Lachman. Dan Rather came , ever the gentleman. I think he was touched when I shared the story of how welcoming he had been to me when I joined CBS News years ago. Truly, within minutes of my contract being signed, a care package of CBS ‘bling’ arrived at my apartment, along with a handwritten note from Dan pledging his support. That gesture has been one I have never forgotten.
I'll have more party pictures later. Gotta get some sleep -- doing Good Morning America tomorrow!
