The official 'pub date' for Thank You Power is still several days away, but the book is finding its way into stores and I am beginning to hear from readers. Thank YOU for taking the time to write. I wanted to share this email from a woman, a working mom like me, whose note gave me SUCH a lift. When you read this, ask yourself if there isn't someone you could send a note or email to and similarly brighten their day?
Just finished reading Thank You Power, a very uplifting, feel good book. I can't wait to teach "Thank You Power" to my three children. I think it will be one of the most important lessons in their life. I have an idea for your next book: Thank You Power For Kids!
Well, thank you, I really enjoyed the book (read it in 24 hours in between my very hectic schedule and it kept me uplifted the whole way.)
Say THANK YOU & Fight Breast Cancer

I had the most uplifting lunch today. No, it wasn't the real tablecloth and napkins or the incredible salad and sea bass was served. It was the reason for the lunch. I attended the Kick Off of Carolee Jeweler's 'Words of Wisdom' initiative -- which raises money for the Breast Cancer Research Fund through the sales of the lovely bracelet you see here. Five celebs were asked to contribute the words THEY live by -- and of course mine are Thank You. This beautiful sterling silver bracelet is being sold at major department stores across the country and through Carolee.com. You can access the Thank You Bracelet by clicking here. (You'll have a hard time finding it if you go blindly through their website! More than $100,000 will be donated to BCRF -- 100% of the profits of the bracelet (I get nothing folks, just the joy of knowing there's more bucks in the till to fight this disease). I am so proud to be a part of this.
Sept 19 - National Gratitude Day
There is a calendar with a day for everything.... but who knew there was actually a day set aside just to be grateful. It is today -- September 19 -- National Gratitude Day. Take a moment if you would and consider all the many things in your life -- big and small -- that give your life meaning, joy, life and light. You're a lucky person aren't you? Feels good, doesn't it? That's Thank You Power.
Sept 12 - More Media Interviews

It is so hard to toot your own horn -- tho of course, in a sense, isn't that what all these blogs out here do? As you know, I've been emailing old friends, viewers who've emailed me in the past and business colleagues, just to let them know the book's coming down the pike. Got the greatest email from Leeza Gibbons. You know who she is ... so I don't have to explain. And since she's nice here is her website. She does about a million things, including host her own radio show and she wanted me to be on. I was delighted ... I have known Leeza a long time. Our careers and our lives have sort of paralleled. Both of us Southern girls who somehow made it in the TV business (she's from South Carolina, I'm from Georgia). Both have three kids -- tho reverse order. She was girl-boy-boy. I started with boys first. Our third babies were actually born just days apart. And we have always found ourselves on a similar spiritual wavelength -- quite rare in this goofy business, trust me. When Leeza got my email, she immediately zapped back and said I have GOT to have you on Hollywood Confidential. That's her weekly radio show. So today, we did the chat -- got all into the book -- and (since she knows I need to keep the TV bosses happy) we talked about some of the things we've got going on on Inside Edition. Keep an 'ear' out for our interview coming up the weekend of September 29th!
Sept 11 - Media Interviews

It's only Tuesday and it's already been a busy week for interviews. Monday, I did three hours of radio chats with DJ's around the country promoting Inside Edition on the first day of the TV season and then did another TWO hours of TV interviews doing the same thing. Then Tuesday, it was a breakfast interview with TV Week's Michelle Greppi, a fabulously witty writer whose sense of humor in her columns always makes me smile. A recent column she did on the 'appropriateness' of sky-high heels had me diving into the shoe closet to reassess what I'd put ont he shelf. I decided I didn't care if it was 'appropriate.' Those super high pumps make my legs look skinnier and anything that does THAT is a fashion do! She wanted to talk not only about the new book, but a BIG anniversary that is approaching: my 30th year in broadcasting. (My husband says I should keep quiet about that in this youth obsessed world. I figure since I was only 19 and in college when I started, it was okay to talk about it). I'll put up a link when her piece comes out.

Then -- this afternoon -- Newsweek -- did a Q & A interview. The questions were great -- the writer was a science major and had a terrific knowledge base to quiz me about the psychology behind many of the attributes discussed in Thank You Power. She challenged me in an intellectually stimulating way -- really cool stuff. LATER ADD-- You won't believe what happened to the interview we did! Stay tunes!
Sept 7 - Talking Thank You Power with NewsMax.com
Ron Kessler is one of the really good writers out there. A best selling author, with impeccable sources in Washington, he turns out works of non-fiction that always offer some kind of surprise. His book on Laura Bush let the world know that she was a cigarette sneaker and that the Bush twins were conceived with the help of fertility drugs -- not as common then as it is now. His book, Sins of the Father was riveting look at the behind the scenes life of Kennedy family patriarch, Joe Kennedy. Kessler even managed to track down the secretary who handled 'more than dictation' if you catch my drift. Check out his website, you'll see what a gifted and prolific writer he has been. He, too, has a new book coming out later this fall.

So imagine MY surprise (and delight) when Ron emailed and suggested he interview me for the widely read internet magazine, NewsMax.com. Kessler thought Thank You Power's message detailing the life changing power of gratitude was one that would resonate with the NewsMax reader. They're a intellectual bunch -- and I agreed -- the science and the proof offered up in the book was probably pretty intriguing to them.
We chatted for nearly an hour (how on earth he will make THAT short enough for a web magazine is happily not my problem.) I had just spent the better part of the day moving my teenager into his dorm room in 95 degree heat so I was sincerely grateful NOT to be hauling another box at that moment.
I also ended the conversation grateful for Mr. Kessler. His insightful questions helped ME have some new insights about Thank You Power and I hung up feeling strangely energized. If you look at the tour calendar they have set up for me in a few weeks, it's going to be VERY hectic. But after my conversation with Ronald Kessler, I have a sense that spreading the word about TYP is going to be a personally uplifting experience.

Sept 6 - Technology Hates Me

I have decided that technology hates me. I started sending emails out to friends to let them that the book comes out in a month. (I sort of stay quiet about stuff 'till the last minute.) OK. I have a lot of friends and it was taking forever to email one at a time, so I put a bunch of names together in the email field...and WHAM! MSN shut me down! ACCESS DENIED! The MSN computer thinks I am a spammer. There are no humans at MSN apparently ... no way to find a living being with whom to communicate. Maybe I'll be back in business tomorrow -- 24 hours it claims! Oh brother! All I wanted to do today was finish the website. Maybe later!
Still Trying to Build a Web
Ok -- I KNOW I can do this. I am college educated, can read instructions and am fairly logical in my thinking. The one thing I am not: patient. Good Heavens, one needs patience to do this web stuff. My wonderful web guru made a house call the other day and gave me an 'in person' tutorial on HTML code. Since then, I have been very slowly uploading and copying and updating and uploading and FTP'ing and HTML'ing. My mind has become an alphabet soup of computer mishmash. But it's coming -- slowly.
The other thing I don't have, along with patience: time. You really need hours and hours to properly do this computer stuff. I feel excited if I just find five minutes to knock out a little blog entry. But then, that's part of the magic of Thank You Power, finding blessings in the small things. I am very happy to hit the 'post' button right now!

Great Plug from Larry King

The King himself had nice words to say about Thank You Power and wow! Was I feeling grateful when he did. The other night I was a guest on Larry King Live and at the end of the program, he asked his guests what projects they had cooking. Well -- since he asked -- I volunteered I had a new book coming out in the Fall. To which, Larry said something to the effect that he'd read it, liked it and "You should be very proud." Well -- I am! And even more proud that Larry took a moment to mention the book to the world.
